quintessential character continued into Pill, where the Avon has rejoined
us, and a station signal box indelibly part of the scene. Pill is a name
proudly and traditionally associated with generations of Bristol Channel
pilots. Then, on past Portbury (original destination of the railway)
to "PortZed" (Bristolianese for "Portishead")
might view "PortZed" as a smaller attraction than "Wessun" (Weston - super
- Mare"), but easier to get to, and a popular dormitory town. The post
- war station's newness had hardly worn off when closure came, in 1964.
