For many, the journeys they most fondly remember
are those when the Great Western Railway took them to the seaside. The
term "Cornish Riviera" was, after all, coined by the GWR. Thanks
to the magnificent re-invention of Swindon's railway workshops in 2000,
as Designer Village, National Monuments Record Centre, - and "STEAM"
Museum, not only are such memories rekindled in older folks, but a new
interest is generated in the young. Rightly popular with excited school
parties, at last there's plenty of room for everyone, - including
a new workshop, seen bottom right.. |
